Healthcare workers and community members will gather outside the offices of AGL, urging Australia's largest polluter to replace coal with renewable energy by 2030.
Join this creative action and together we will perform a "Die-in" to raise awareness of the health impacts of climate change and air pollution with a street theatre piece. Healthcare workers in professional dress armed with intravenous fluid bags, poles and oxygen masks will tend to people pretending to fall ill from air pollution and climate change.
There will be guest speakers from a range of disciplines and we plan to create some noise that urgent action is needed.
The more people who can take part, the louder the message will be so please join us and bring your friends and colleagues!
This is a peaceful, legal demonstration and we will have a range of roles to suit people's interests. Any questions please get in touch.
Note: COVID-safe measures will be in place, including but not limited to:
- Vaccination required (unless medically exempt)
- We will distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) but if you have your own, e.g. masks / goggles / face shield, please bring it
- RSVP required to trace participants
There will be an optional information session about the event via Zoom 6-6.45pm Monday 24 January. A zoom link will be included for this in your RSVP email.
Not sure what a ‘Die-in’ is? It's a form of creative protest that’s been used for a range of causes over the years and can look a little like this example (but ours will be more colourful and lying down is not essential)
