Endorsement for All-Electric Healthy Hospitals

Join the Call for All-Electric Hospitals

Hospitals are on the frontline of climate change, yet many still rely on outdated, polluting fossil fuels for heating, sterilisation and power. Extreme weather events—like floods, bushfires and heatwaves—are already disrupting hospital operations, putting patient care at risk.

The All-Electric Healthy Hospitals Campaign is calling on the government to take action by ensuring all new hospitals are built all-electric and funding feasibility studies to retrofit existing hospitals. This transition will:

Reduce harmful emissions and protect public health.
Improve hospital resilience so they can keep the lights on during disasters.
Lower operational costs, allowing hospitals to reinvest in patient care.

By endorsing this campaign, you’ll join leading medical organisations representing over 100,000 healthcare professionals in urging the government to fund hospital electrification in the 2025/2026 budget.

Add your endorsement today and help make Australia’s hospitals cleaner, safer and future-proof.

I/we endorse the following recommendations to the Australian federal, state and territory governments:

  1. All new Australian public hospitals should be built all-electric as of now.
  2. A pilot program should be funded to retrofit at least nine existing Australian hospitals to become all-electric, including hospitals of a variety of sizes, locations and local climates.
  3. All Australian public hospitals should be retrofitted to become fully electric by 2035.
